Suicide in Spain is a social and health issue. In 2016, the World Health Organization ranked Spain 130th of the 170 countries listed with an overall suicide rate of 6.1 per 100,000 people. The real estate crisis and rising unemployment rate caused by the 2008–2014 Spanish financial crisis are thought to be among the primary causes of suicide.
