Turkey participated in the 1991 Mediterranean Games held in Athens, Greece, from 28 June to 12 July 1991. A total of 206 Turkish athletes competed at the Games, winning 23 gold, 11 silver, and 12 bronze medals, ranking third overall in the medal table. The weightlifting results of Sunay Bulut (three gold medals in men's 82.5 kg) and Ali Eroğlu (two gold and one bronze in men's 90 kg) were later annulled due to doping violations. Despite the cancellation of 6 medals, the 1991 Mediterranean Games marked Turkey's highest international medal tally up to that date.
