Herman Potočnik (pseudonym Hermann Noordung; Pola, 22 December 1892 – Vienna, 27 August 1929) was an Austro-Hungarian Army officer, electrical engineer and astronautics theorist of Slovenian origin. He is regarded as an early theorist of modern space flight and is remembered mainly for his work concerning the long-term human habitation of space.
