On 6 June 2010, 25 years after the death of a 37-year old Polish Catholic priest Jerzy Popiełuszko, Father Jerzy was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI requested by archbishop Angelo Amato. However, few years later in 2014, his canonization was delayed, causing it to be pending.
