Saverne (French: Saverne, pronounced [savɛʁn] ⓘ; Alsatian: Zàwere [ˈd̥sɐːvəʁə]; German: Zabern [ˈtsaːbɐn] ⓘ) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It is situated on the Rhine-Marne canal at the foot of a pass over the Vosges Mountains, and 45 km (27 mi) northwest of Strasbourg.
As of 2023, the population of the commune was 11,460. Saverne is the centre of an urban area with about 19,000 inhabitants.
