A twelve-dish Christmas Eve supper is traditionally prepared to commemorate the twelve disciples of Jesus in the Central-Eastern European cultures that historically made up the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, chiefly in Poland, but also in Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine.
