Tuvan throat singing
Tuvan throat singing, also known as Mongolian throat singing, is a style of singing, the main technique of which is known as khoomei (/xuˈmiː/ or /xoʊˈmeɪ/). It is practiced by people in Tuva, Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang Mongol regions such as Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture and Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Buryatia , Kalmykia and Altay. It is noted for including overtone singing. In 2009, Tuvan throat singing was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO.
