Transport in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a transport hub in east-central Scotland, linking road, rail and air networks within Scotland and to international destinations. The Scottish Parliament and Government have statutory authority to fund, regulate and oversee transport projects of national importance affecting Edinburgh. Transport for Edinburgh, an executive body of the City of Edinburgh Council, coordinates development and delivery of the city’s transport projects in partnership with major providers.

Edinburgh operates public transport services including buses, trams, and rail connections, though traffic congestion and transport project delivery present ongoing challenges.
