Tourism in Russia
Tourism in Russia has been volatile after steep declines due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of international sanctions during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which led to many governments advising against travel to Russia, reduced flight options, and the inability to use several payment systems.
In 2024, foreign visitors to Russia for the purpose of tourism rose to 4.2 million, led by growth in visitors from China, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Tourism, including domestic tourism, is estimated to represent 2.5% of the GDP of Russia.
