Tonata Gebhard (also known as Tonata Itenge-Emvula) is a Namibian diplomat serving as Namibian Ambassador to China since 2025. She succeeded Elia George Kaiyamo in the post.
Gebhard was appointed by former president Sam Nujoma in 1991 as Namibia’s first woman ambassador to the Nordic countries, representing Namibia in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. Her most recent role before her Beijing posting was as ministerial special adviser in the Ministry of Gender Equality.
Gebhard is a co-owner of Lithon Consultants, which was appointed as lead project consultants for the Roads Contractor Company Plaza development in Windhoek, a real estate project that ultimately did not go through.
She also contributed financially toward a pilot solar‑energy installation in Windhoek’s Oshitenda informal settlement, helping fund the 12‑volt off‑grid system for disadvantaged residents.
