Thomas Oswald (British Army officer)
Thomas Oswald (born 1722), younger brother of James Oswald (younger) of Dunnikier, was a British Army officer in the 18th century, engaged in the War of the Austrian Succession and Seven Years' War. He joined the Scots Brigade in Dutch service in 1747 and served with them as an officer until 1756 when he joined the 60th Regiment of Foot for service in North America. Oswald commanded his regiment's 2nd battalion at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham which led to the capture of Quebec.
