The Three Dead and the Three Living

The Three Living and the Three Dead (also known as The Three Dead and the Three Quick, French: Le Dit des trois Morts et des trois Vifs, tale or legend) is a theme in Medieval literature and visual arts (painting, miniature, illumination, and sculpture) that shows three corpses addressing three young, richly adorned pedestrians (or three young horsemen), often while they are hunting. This theme became popular during the 14th and 15th centuries.
