In the episode, Jerry fails to flirt with a woman while out with ex-girlfriend Elaine Benes, and Jerry's father sends him on a "stake out" to catch the woman at her workplace.

"The Stake Out" is the first episode to feature Jerry's parents. The episode was nominated for a Writers Guild Award in 1991.
