The Normal is the recording artist name used by English music producer Daniel Miller, a film editor at the time, who is best known as the founder of the record label Mute Records. The project encompassed the industrial, synthpunk, and minimal synth, and existed from 1978 to 1980. The project is most known for its debut single, "Warm Leatherette", which would notably be covered by Grace Jones, Duran Duran, and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, and was also featured in the American horror film Antebellum (2020).
