The Believers is a 1987 Canadian-American horror-noir film, directed by John Schlesinger and written by Mark Frost, based on the 1982 novel The Religion by Nicholas Conde. Starring Martin Sheen, Robert Loggia and Helen Shaver, the film follows a recently widowed police psychologist who is investigating a series of ritualistic child murders in New York City.
