40°46′30″N 111°52′30″W / 40.77500°N 111.87500°W The Avenues is a neighborhood in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is named after the perfectly gridlike, closely laid out roads called Avenues (numbers, 1st - 18th) and Streets (letters, A - V). First surveyed in the 1850s, the Avenues was Salt Lake City's first neighborhood. Today, the Avenues are generally younger, more progressive, and bohemian when compared to other historic Salt Lake City neighborhoods. Many young professionals choose to live there due to the area's general culture and proximity to downtown.. The Avenues are also one of the most reliable strongholds of the Utah Democratic Party.
