Youth mental health crisis

The ongoing youth mental health crisis refers to the significant rise in mental health challenges among adolescents and young adults in the US, Canada, the UK, East Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe. The trend began in the early 2010s and escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some notable issues include increasing rates of depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicide, and other disorders. The advancement of technology and social media has played a large role in these issues. It has been noticeable through statistics and surveys that a large percentage of youth affected are young girls.
