Tawang district (Pron:/tɑ:ˈwæŋ or təˈwæŋ/) is a district of the Arunachal Pradesh state in northeastern India. It is the smallest of 26 districts of Arunachal Pradesh by land area, and has a population of 49,977 people. The district headquarters is the Tawang town with its historical monastery. The district borders the Tibet region of China in the north, Bhutan in the west, and the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh in the south.
