Tarek Mehanna is a pharmacist convicted of conspiracy to provide material support to al Qaeda, providing material support to terrorists (and conspiracy to do so), conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country, conspiracy to make false statements to the FBI, and two counts of making false statements. He was arrested on October 21, 2009. He was convicted on December 20, 2011 and sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison on April 12, 2012. He was incarcerated at ADX Florence in Colorado, US. and was released on August 20, 2024 after serving 14 years and 10 months.
