Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), formerly Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS), is a National Law University. Admissions to the university is based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). It was established in 2012 by the Government of Tamil Nadu through the Tamil Nadu National Law School Act, 2012, with an initial allocation of ₹100 crore (equivalent to ₹189 crore or US$22 million in 2023). The Act was amended in 2018, replacing the word 'School' with 'University'.
