Tala is a Beautiful city & Taluka place subdivision of Raigad district of Maharashtra State in India. Tala is located about 15 km from Indapur town, which lies on the Mumbai–Goa Highway. Tala is connected to Indapur via National Highway 348B. Tala is also connected to Roha, Mhasla, Murud and Indapur. Talgad Fort is the main attraction of Tala and is one of the important forts in the Raigad district. The name Tala is the Marathi word for “lake.” In the past, there were many lakes in and around Tala city, which is believed to be the reason behind its name. Tala taluka consists of a total of 63 villages. In the middle ages the Tala taluka, along with that of Ghosal fort and region of Roha (consisting of 29 villages), formed the Tala pargana, of whose Deshmukhi rights the Raje (Kshipre) family of the Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu community possessed. Majority Khots (landlords & semi-independent tax collectors) of the Pargana, like other parts of the Raigad district (also known as Kolaba district), belonged to the same CKP community. One of the most well-known people from Tala is C.D. Deshmukh.
