Commander Nigel David "Sharkey" MacCartan-Ward, DSC, AFC (born Ward; 22 September 1943 – 17 May 2024) was an officer in the Royal Navy. He played a key role in the introduction of the Sea Harrier aircraft into operational service with the Fleet Air Arm and commanded 801 Naval Air Squadron during the Falklands War. The nickname "Sharkey" is traditionally given to Royal Navy personnel with the surname Ward, in reference to the Barbary corsair Jack Ward.
