Rayleigh /ˈreɪliː/ is a market town and civil parish in the Rochford District of Essex, England. It lies between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea, 32 miles (51 km) east of central London. At the 2021 census the parish had a population of 32,248 and the built up area had a population of 32,380.
