Propaganda in Ukraine

Ukrainian propaganda has a long and complex history, spanning various periods and political events. In the context of modern Ukraine, since independence in 1991, the development of Ukrainian propaganda has been accompanied by the evolution of propaganda strategies under Presidents Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko, Viktor Yanukovych, Petro Poroshenko, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Modern propaganda in Ukraine in the context of the information war is used to shape public opinion on issues such as the annexation of Crimea by Russia, the war in Donbas, and Russian invasion of Ukraine. In response to these events, both the Ukrainian government and opposition parties used propaganda to influence public opinion and garner support for their goals. This included campaigns to demonize the Russian authorities and armed forces, glorify Ukrainian nationalism, and mobilize support for Ukrainian forces. During the war in Donbas, various communication agencies developed media and marketing projects to support national propaganda and narratives. Propaganda was also used to spread false information about the war in Ukraine and to discredit the opposition. In the context of describing the war with Russia, the phrase "Ukrainian counter-propaganda" is also used.
