Prince of Dai (Ming dynasty)

The Prince of Dai (Chinese: 代王) was a Ming dynasty princely peerage created by the Hongwu Emperor for his 13th son, Zhu Gui, in 1378. The peerage was initially named the Prince of Yu (Chinese: 豫王) with its fief in Nanchang. In 1392, the peerage gained its present name and its fief was relocated to Datong, one of the nine strategically important cities of the Ming dynasty since 1487.
