The president of Nepal, officially the president of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is the head of state of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. The president is the nominal head of the executive, the first citizen of the country, and the supreme commander of the Nepalese Armed Forces. Ram Chandra Poudel is the 3rd and current president since 13 March 2023.
The president is indirectly elected by an electoral college comprising the Federal Parliament of Nepal and the provincial assemblies of each of Nepal's seven provinces, who themselves are all directly elected.
The office was created in May 2008 after the country was declared a republic.
