Pontefract cakes (also known as Pomfret cakes and Pomfrey cakes) are a type of small, roughly circular black sweet. They measure approximately 0.75 in (19 mm) wide and 0.16 in (4 mm) thick, are made of liquorice and were originally manufactured in the West Yorkshire town of Pontefract, England.
