V. Peter Harder PC (born August 25, 1952) is a Canadian senator and a former senior civil servant in the Government of Canada. He was the nominated by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on March 18, 2016 and was the first Trudeau-appointed senator to take office. He was the inaugural office holder of the role of Representative of the Government in the Senate, representing the Trudeau government in the Senate during Trudeau's first term as Prime Minister from 2016 to 2019. He is currently a member of the Progressive Senate Group.
