Padma Viswanathan

Padma Viswanathan (born 1968 Nelson, British Columbia) is a Canadian playwright, novelist, translator, and memoirist. She is a full professor at the University of Arkansas, where she teaches in the MFA Program in Creative Writing and Translation.

In 2026, On Earth as it is Beneath, Viswanathan's English translation of Ana Paula Maia's 2017 novel, Assim na Terra como embaixo da Terra, was longlisted for the International Booker Prize.
