The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) was the operating name for the institute of chartered accountants of New Zealand. Originally known as the New Zealand Society of Accountants (NZSA) from 1909, the name Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand was adopted in 1996. The Institute represented over 33,000 members in New Zealand and overseas. Most accountants in New Zealand belonged to the institute.
In November 2013, members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) and the NZICA accepted a proposal to create a single institute. NZICA and the ICAA amalgamated to become Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in 2014.
