The city is located city in Stavropol Krai, Russia, located on both banks of the Kuban River at its confluence with the Bolshoy Zelenchuk River, 54 kilometers (34 mi) south of Stavropol, the administrative center of Stavropol Krai.
On October 29, 2020, the Duma of the Stavropol territory decided to award it the honorary title of City of military valor.
On December 14, 2019, residents of the city on the bridge set a world record for "The Largest number of people simultaneously standing in the plank in the world". 4,573 people participated in the 1-minute plank.
