National Redoubt (Belgium)

The National Redoubt (French: Réduit national, Dutch: Nationale bolwerk) refers to a 95 km (59 mi)-long ring of forts around the major port city of Antwerp, Belgium built between 1859 and 1914. By 1914, it consisted of 28 forts arranged in two rings around the city.

The fortifications served as a cornerstone for Belgian defensive strategy alongside later rings of forts around Liège and Namur until 1940.
