The Midcounties Co-operative, latterly trading as Your Co-op, was an independent consumer co-operative in the United Kingdom with over 758,000 members. Registered in England under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, it was a member of Co-operatives UK and Federal Retail Trading Services. Tracing its origins to 1853, it became part of Central Co-op in 2026.
The Society's principal activity was retailing in parts of the West Midlands, South West, and South East regions, however some of its businesses traded nationally. Its trading groups were Food, Travel, Phone Co-op, Post Office, Early Years and Flexible Benefits. The Society was also active in recruiting electricity and gas customers through its Co-op Energy brand, and in community-owned energy generation, both in partnership with Octopus Energy.
The Midcounties Co-operative had its headquarters in Warwick, Warwickshire, with trading outlets in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Shropshire, the West Midlands, Worcestershire and the surrounding counties, but also had a national trading presence through its Travel, Early Years, Phone Co-op and Flexible Benefits businesses.
As of 25 January 2025, Midcounties generated £1.5bn of gross sales and had 410 trading sites. Trade with members as a proportion of total sales was 44%.
The Midcounties Co-operative invested in the communities in which it traded through responsible trading, local sourcing, community projects and charitable work. In 2024/25 Midcounties paid out £287,000 to good causes.
In 2024/25, Midcounties recorded gross sales of £1.51bn (£1.48bn 2023/24) and an operating profit before exceptional items of £11.0m (£9.5m 2023/24). The Society’s net debt was £63.0m (£65.8m 2023/24) and net assets totalled £104.8m (£106.4m 2023/24) as at 25 January 2025.
The Society was run by a non-executive Board of 16 Directors, which was chaired by the Society's President. The members of the Board were elected directly by the members.
On 1 October 2025, the Midcounties Co-operative and Central England Co-operative (which had recently absorbed the smaller Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society) announced that they were exploring the possibility of merging into a single society. Following the overwhelming approval of members on 2 December, legal completion concluded on 26 January 2026, with the transfer of engagements and launch of the OurCoop family of businesses.
