Mario Merola (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmaːrjo ˈmɛːrola]; 6 April, 1934 – 12 November, 2006) was an Italian singer and actor. He has been nicknamed "The King of the Sceneggiata" (Italian: il Re della sceneggiata), a type of regional drama originating in Naples and later finding more widespread recognition.
