Mahtowa Township (/ˈmɑːtoʊwə/ MAH-toh-wə) is a township in Carlton County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 494 as of the 2000 census. The name Mahtowa was derived from a Native American term meaning "bear" or "grass lands".
Interstate 35 serves as a main route in the township.
