Mahmoud Ben Ayed
Mahmoud Ben Ayed, Mahmoud Ben Ayad (Arabic: محمود بن عياد), born in 1805 in Tunis and died in 1880 in Istanbul, was a Tunisian politician. His misappropriation of funds while in office led the Tunisian state to bankruptcy and financial dependence on Europe, and was thus one of the causes of the establishment of the French protectorate of Tunisia.
