The Märkischer Kreis (German pronunciation: [ˌmɛʁkɪʃɐ ˈkʁaɪs], lit. 'Markian District') is a district (Kreis) in central North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Neighbouring districts are Unna, Soest, Hochsauerland, Olpe, Oberbergischer Kreis, Ennepe-Ruhr, and the city of Hagen.
