The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is a federally recognized Native American tribe in North Carolina. The tribe represents Lumbee people. They received federal recognition on December 18, 2025 with the passing of the Lumbee Fairness Act within the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act.
With an estimated 55,000 members, the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is the largest tribe in the United States east of the Mississippi River.
