Luis de Onís y González-Vara (4 June 1762 – 17 May 1827) was a Spanish career diplomat who served as Spain's envoy to the United States from 1809 to 1819, and co-negotiated the Adams–Onís Treaty (signed 1819; ratified 1821) with United States Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, by which Spain ceded Florida to the United States, the United States renounced its claims to Texas, and a transcontinental boundary was defined to the Pacific Ocean.
