Ludwig-Ferdinand Heinrich Georg Friedrich von Friedeburg (21 May 1924 – 17 May 2010) was a German sociologist, Nazi officer and Social Democratic (SPD) politician who served as Hesse’s Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs from 1969 to 1974. A leading figure in West Germany's post-war education reforms, he promoted the introduction of Integrierte Gesamtschulen (comprehensive schools) and upper-secondary reform in Hesse. Earlier, he served in the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War and, at age 20, became one of Germany's youngest U-boat commanders. After leaving politics he directed Frankfurt's Institute for Social Research from 1975 to 2001.
