La Paz (pronounced [la ˈpas] ⓘ, English: "peace") is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, with a 2020 census population of 250,141 inhabitants, making it the most populous city in the state. La Paz is located in La Paz Municipality, the fourth-largest municipality in Mexico by both population (292,241) and area of 20,275 km2 (7,828 sq mi).
