A krater or crater (Ancient Greek: κρατήρ, romanized: kratḗr, lit. 'mixing vessel', IPA: [kraːtɛ̌ːr]; Latin: crater, IPA: [ˈkraːteːr]) was a large two-handled type of vase in Ancient Greek pottery and metalwork, mostly used for the mixing of wine with water.
