Kerwin Kofi Charles is the Indra K. Nooyi Dean & Frederick W. Beinecke Professor of Economics, Policy, and Management at the Yale School of Management.
In 2023, he was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and appointed Sir Arthur Lewis Fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. He has served as Vice President of the American Economic Association, President of the Midwest Economic Association, and Chair of the Nominating Committee of the American Economic Association.
His editorial service includes membership on the International Editorial Board of Industrial and Labor Relations Review, the Advisory Board of the Journal of Economic Perspectives, and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Labor Economics. He previously served as an Associate Editor of The Journal of Human Resources. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Institution for Social and Policy Studies and previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics.
He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and an elected Fellow of the Society of Labor Economists, has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of NORC, and is a member of the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee.
He was previously the Edwin A. and Betty L. Bergman Distinguished Service Professor of the Harris School of Public Policy at The University of Chicago, and was a professor at the University of Michigan from 1995 - 2006.
