Josephat Mathias Gwajima is a prominent Tanzanian politician, influential bishop, evangelical preacher, and accomplished author who is currently serving as a Member of Parliament for the Kawe Constituency since October 25, 2020. He is a member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), the prevailing political party in the United Republic of Tanzania, where he also serves as a member of the National Executive Committee for CCM since December 2022. He is the archbishop and founder of Ufufuo na Uzima Ministries (The Glory of Christ Tanzania Church), founded in September 1995, an organisation that spreads the Christian gospel and provides spiritual guidance globally.
Born in Mwanza city, Gwajima graduated with a bachelor's degree in Theology and Ministry from the West Coast Baptist Bible College & Seminary, Dallas, Texas, USA in 1998. Later, he pursued and earned a Master's degree in theology & counselling from West Coast Bible College. He then earned an honorary doctorate from Omega Global University in South Africa. Gwajima worked as a Senior Pastor and a leader of the Full Gospel Church of Yoido Ministry in Tanzania before founding Ufufuo na Uzima Ministries.
Gwajima is widely known for his impassioned sermons, expansive church network, bold political commentary, and his distinctive role in shaping religious and political discourse in Tanzania.
