Joseph Oppenheimer

Joseph Oppenheimer (8 February 1820 in Braunschweig/Brunswick, Germany – 8 February 1893 in Manchester, UK), was a German-born British merchant and inventor who spent most of his adult life working in the telegraphy industry in Australia and the United Kingdom. He held several key patents, including one for telescoping telegraphic poles.
