Colonel John Shakespear CMG CIE DSO (Lushai: Tarmita,lit.'Mr. Spectacles', 1 September 1861 – 10 February 1942) was the first Superintendent of the British Lushai Hills serving from 1891 to 1896. He also was an officer of the British Army in India, an Indian Political Service officer, and an author.
