Major-General John Armstrong, FRS (31 March 1674 – 15 April 1742) was a British army officer and engineer who served as Chief Royal Engineer and Surveyor-General of the Ordnance. He played a leading role in establishing the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich as a dedicated training academy for engineers.
