Jiuhuang bencao
The Jiuhuang bencao (Chinese: 救荒本草; pinyin: Jiùhuāng běncǎo; Wade–Giles: Chiu-huang pen-ts'ao; lit. 'Famine Relief Herbal'), compiled by the Ming dynasty prince Zhu Su (朱橚) and published in 1406, was the first illustrated botanical manual for famine foods—wild food plants suitable for survival during times of famine.
