Lee Jae-yong (Korean: 이재용; born June 23, 1968) is a South Korean business executive who is the chairman of Samsung since October 2022. In 2017, Lee was convicted of bribery, embezzlement, and concealment of criminal proceeds. He served a prison sentence until being pardoned by President Yoon Suk Yeol in August 2022.
Born into the family that controls the Samsung conglomerate, Lee graduated from Harvard University with a degree in business administration. Since joining Samsung in 1991, Lee has held various position in the company. Lee has consistently ranked among the wealthiest persons in South Korea, with a net worth reaching tens of billions of dollars.
