Istrinsky District (Russian: И́стринский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the thirty-six in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the western central part of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,268.97 square kilometers (489.95 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Istra. Population: 119,641 (2010 census); 115,753 (2002 Census); 90,572 (1989 Soviet census). The population of Istra accounts for 29.3% of the district's total population.
